Other notable characters are Torque the "shellduck", Prince Dail's criminal half-brother Spade, The Royal Magister who is the wise spiritual leader of this world, a panda priestess by the name of Neeri Li, a snake mercenary called Serpentine, Syntax, an artificial life form aligned with the main antagonist and of course, Lord Brevon. But man did it compliment my excitement for the Sonic Mania Plus DLC once it finally made its way to my current choice of gaming platform! It looks, plays, sounds, and overall feels quite a lot like a 16-bit Sonic game crossed with a 16-bit beat-em-up like Final Fight and Streets of Rage! In fact, come to think of it, this actually feels like a video game equivalent to an idea I got just over a year ago for an animated action-adventure-comedy film I plan on making, even down to having two lead female protagonists! (At least, before DLC came out for this game) All that’s missing is the Escape From New York, Fleischer Studios, The Amazing World of Gumball, Hank Zipzer, Mega Man, and Crestillion influence that my movie has, and also the fact that it’s a fox/cat girlfriend duo as the heroes as opposed to the dragon/wildcat friend duo we have here.Īnyway, this game fits really nicely in my list of most favorite games to have played on my Switch, right up there with Puyo Puyo Tetris and Sonic Mania, among many others! I’ve also heard that this game will be getting a sequel in the future, and I’m really looking forward to that! Anyway, this game follows Sash Lilac and Carol Tea, a respective dragon/wildcat duo that teams up with a Duck named Torque (at least, he appears as a duck at first before his real alien identity is revealed) and a basset hound named Milla Basset to protect a powerful relic known as the Kingdom Stone, which their planet’s three kingdoms (Shuigang, Dail, and Shang Tu) are all at war against each other over.Īs one of the biggest fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of this game sooner, especially with so much buzz and praise surrounding this game (even from Sega themselves!) that I somehow completely missed out on. Did one of my original projects also start out as a Sonic story, but also as yet another one of my crossovers with Gumball? I don’t know. I feel like I’ve done something like that before.
